Situated in the middle of the Po valley, Mantua has hosted some of the most famous and important noble families of the italian history, which left traces of their passage in the buildings and in the urban structure and architecture of the city.

In “Piazza Sordello” is the “Duomo”(cathedral) which flanks the “Palazzo Ducale”, originally the residence of the Gonzaga family, characterized by the presence of a large number of halls, courtyards and internal gardens.

Wonderful frescoes of the rooms, among which the most famous is the “Camera degli sposi” frescoed by Mantegna. Continuing the walk along “Corso Umberto” to “Piazza Erbe” and the “Rotonda di San Lorenzo”, the oldest church in the city. The colonnade are briefly interrupted by the square overlooked by the beautiful “Basilica di Sant'Andrea”, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture that combines illustrious names as Leon Battista Alberti, Mantegna, Canova, Correggio.

Our walk between courses and colonnades, cobbled streets and squares ends again on the views of the lakes. Welcome drink on the shore of “Lago di Mezzo” or, in case of bad weather, in a historical restaurant overlooking Piazza Sordello. Back at the hotel and time for relax. Dinner organized in a typical restaurant with traditional local food products, including: pumpkin ravioli, particular for the contrast between the sweet taste of pumpkin and the more spicy mustard of Mantua, and the cake "sbrisolona" sweet symbol of the local pastry-making, so called for its "brise" (or crumbs in the local dialect) that are formed by the solid dough.
